2008-02-16 Extra meeting

MINUTES OF ADDITIONAL PPC MEETING

February 16th

Present:- Fr John, Fr Tom, Bill Flynn, Sue Arlinghaus, Mary Makowski, Jo Johnston, Sue Holbrook, Lindsay Read, John Andrews.

Feedback was presented to Fr John and Fr Tom of what the Seeking the Face of Christ presentation was asking. The Draft Guidelines show what the Diocese have heard from the initial consultation, what needs to be done and specific proposals. The next stage is feedback from each parish/parishioner on whether the priorities are right and how our Parish would engage in these actions.

This was discussed and actions from these discussions were:-

To have a set of meetings to discuss each section of the Guidelines.
PPC members to explain the Guidelines and the Diocesan requirement for all parishioners to be involved individually or in groups. This to be done at each mass from the pulpit.
Prepare the books before each meeting into sections to be discussed.
For those not attending a meeting for the Guidelines to be made available both in short and long booklets (long booklets to be returned as costly to reprint).
To be made available on parish website for those that want to deliver their feedback in that format.
Parishioners encouraged to deliver their feedback to the Parish as we can pick up the needs for the Parish and the PPC remit. All feedback will be passed on to the Diocese.
Parish groups to be encouraged to discuss these Guidelines, eg., Youth, Bible Group, Music, Teams of Our Lady.
To have on each pew the small booklet with each subject/topic on and a request for each parishioner to give their top three priorities of each topic. This to be done after Communion, during reflective time.
Highlight the actions of each topic that are just for parish and those that are more Diocesan based.
The role of the Priest to be included and added to the Formation Section.
Part of PPC role to seek ways of having a Pastoral Assistant, Youth Leader etc. Finance side to be raised at Finance meeting.

The timetable to carry out the feedback for the Diocese and Parish, was to have this completed by 30th April 2008. For our own parish this would entail parishioners focusing on each section prior to the meetings and over Easter.

The timetable proposed was as follows:-

2th March 2008
The small booklets to be ready to hand out at each mass.
For it also to be available on the website.
PPC members to explain expectations of each parishioner from the pulpit at each mass. Also to highlight the meetings that will be held.
Small booklets to be left on pews, so top three priorities of each topic can be chosen during reflective time after Communion.
