MINUTES OF PPC MEETING

MARCH 9^TH 2008

Present:- Fr John Blacker, Fr Tom Smith, John Andrews, Laura Carr, Jo Johnston, Sue Holbrook, Kris Michalik, Tony Thorn, Lindsay Read, Harry Meigh, Sue Arlinghaus, Bill Flynn, Tess Molloy.

Bill Huesbch presentation – Sue and Tess

Tess Molloy was introduced and told of Catechetic programme that Sue H and Tess went to see in 2006. Completely bowled over by it. The programme is about Whole Community Catechesis. Conversion by catechesis is the community working together on conversion experience and learning. Programme deals with a lot of things. If we spend a year getting first year going then we are doing well.

Start simple and build on it. For example - Question of the week or breaking open the word. After the Gospel the Priest will then share the question for that week with the congregation relating to the Gospel. An example would be “which one of the Beatitudes did you notice when they were read today, how will you make it part of your life?”. Not just left to discuss and take away, but every group that meet cleaners, finance etc they begin a meeting with the question of the week and the sharing of that question. Parish retreats are encouraged, but that does seem ambitious when you are starting out, but the starting point does seem to be manageable.

Action: To get in touch with the Newent parish that have started this programme to discuss their findings. SA

Feedback from the weekend’s questionnaire

Various responses received good and bad, but a good number received. People leaving before mass finished was disheartening.

Set up of collation team for the questionnaire

John Andrews will email a spreadsheet to Mary, Bill, Lindsay, Jo, Sue A and Tony to input the responses. It will then be collated. Comments to be typed in. The responses to Seeking the Face of Christ will be added after the meetings.

The format of the meetings for the Seeking the Face of Christ was discussed, as the meeting was running late it was decided a final meeting to organise details of the meetings would be held on March 15^th at 2 pm people that could attend are JJ, SH, JA, LR, TT KM.
