MINUTES OF PPC MEETING
June 1st 2008
Present:- Fr John Blacker, John Andrews, Laura Carr, Jo Johnston, Sue Holbrook, Kris Michalik, Tony Thorn, Lindsay Read, Mary Makowski, Sue Arlinghaus, Bill Flynn.
Apologies:- Fr Tom, Harry Meigh, Sheila Mander.
FORMATION AND MISSION REPORT
The Formation and Mission Group have met and discussed various ideas for Child Faith Formation. For example identify a set of books or programme that are parent and child friendly, to establish a parent/child newsletter and hold regular meetings for both parents and children.
ACTION 5
This programme would begin in September, which Fr John agreed with.
A Parish Mission was discussed. A speaker would come for Advent/Lent. This would be available for all the parishes of Cheltenham.
Two members of the PPC would attend the next Deanery Pastoral Council to establish feelings for a Deanery Mission. Also to ask for ideas of Mission speakers. A clear view was needed on what we want to create as a Mission. What do we see as a Mission? The main mission should cover areas from the questionnaires ie., Unity, Family Life, Faith Development. The PPC should decide this at a separate meeting just on that. PPC members to look research into it and come back for this meeting, which will be arranged at a later date. Bill Flynn will contact Portsmouth about coming together as PPC and Mission.

With regard to the 2nd July 150th Anniversary celebrations, an item needs to go into this week's newsletter for requirements for tables for the various groups.

Sue Holbrook will follow up with Mrs Aston the requirements for the hall usage. ACTION 9.
A list will be updated following on from the Groups Meeting, of those that attended, established groups, groups that had no presence etc. From the information that is produced for the anniversary we will put in to a welcome pack.

PASTORAL SUPPORT REPORT
Collecting information and views and needs from different sections of the parish ie interview clergy and parish members eg Dilys. Collate the needs and individual considerations that position would address, which in turn would identify the person it would be and qualifications that are needed. Fr John to define boundaries. Sixteen people were identified who they need to speak to, they were people that either were involved or should be. Advent was identified as the realistic target date for appointment so the job of speaking to the various people identified needs to be completed by September.
We need facilitators and coordinators eg with the Youth work if you hand it over to a professional you then loose volunteers.
The Pastoral Support group will meet again on 5th June and decide on who to see first.
SOCIAL ACTIVITY REPORT
150th is the next event. Food will be in the small hall and tables etc in the big hall. Video link to Monze. Young people who are part of various things will put together a display. Sheila will look at events of past 150 years.
Some of the exhibits to be left in the back of church prior to the 2nd July.
Formation and Mission Group need to link up with Social Activity group with regard to the Groups tables. Una is arranging food for Fr John's 40th on June 27th. Food still being coordinated for July 2nd.
Invites to be sent out by Fr John to others eg Douai Abbey etc. Sheila is inviting Churches Together.
ANY OTHER BUSINESS
- To improve contact of the PPC and what we are doing - a short write up of “The Journey So Far” to be done for the newsletter of the weekend 14th/15th June by the Formation and Mission Group.
- The link to be set up between websites for people to access.
- To be mentioned in the Journey So Far the new link will be mentioned, together that a hard copy will be available at the back of church (a comment/minute box to be made).
- Photographs of each PPC member to be done on June 7th at 7.15 pm in the Presbytery. These will be displayed with details at the back of church.
- Badges to be made for 2nd July for PPC members to wear. ACTION 12
- Email David Burke for press coverage of the event. ACTION 13.
- Organise ourselves to commit to communicating decisions that we make back to the rest of the group by email or website.
- Each group to decide on who is taking notes and reporting back to the main PPC meetings.
